Rhythm: Movement in Art, Annmarie Arts Center, The Smithsonian

Fallings and Bliss from my Figurative series were selected for the Rhythm: Movement in Art exhibit at Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center. This marked my fourth consecutive acceptance at this prestigious venue affiliated with The Smithsonian.

The exhibition ran from February 13 through April 19, 2026.

About the selected pieces:

Fallings, 48×36″ mixed media—In this piece, I put floating male figures with vivid orange and teal up against a misty background of pastel colors. The perspective grid is balancing the organic forms. Inspired by the discovery of perspective in Renaissance paintings, I applied the same tools to contemporary abstract and surreal motifs. There is a mood of freedom and an adrenaline rush at the same time.

Bliss, 24×24″ mixed media—about the joy of putting behind a shattered past—preservation or deliverance from harm, ruin, or loss. I’ve used a solid wooden artboard and various media and tools, including initial digital studies, stained tissue paper (collaged), acrylic paint (brush and spray), pastel, stencils, and sanding, to achieve this painting’s unique look and feel. I allow the viewer’s imagination to tell the narrative.
