BEST-in-SHOW at The Art League – November Open Art Exhibit 2023

Orbs on Rocks from my Architectural Series (20×24″ mixed media on canvas) was selected and received the BEST-in-SHOW Award by Chelsey Luster, juror for the November Open Exhibit at The Art League, Alexandria, VA.

I also have several other paintings in Gallery 75 of The Art League (same location), one on the wall and five on the racks.

A few words about Orbs on Rocks:

Stonehenge and other ancient and modern architecture inspire this multimedia painting from my Architectural series. I took photos of old walls with interesting textures of rocks, concrete and wood, collaged them digitally to create the foundation of the composition, printed the digital image on canvas and then painted over with acrylic, pastel and spray paint. My goal is to combine modern and antique textures while creating color and textured fields, pushing the boundaries of abstract painting toward a more familiar sense of depth and space.
