Inspired by the Western Baroque and a vast range of traditional Eastern art and architecture, this series embodies the same attributes, including contrast, movement, exuberant detail, deep color, grandeur, drama and surprise, to evoke a sense of awe, while combining abstract and recognizable elements as color fields in a contemporary style.
I am inviting viewers to delve into their inner consciousness by visualizing the world through a prism or a kaleidoscope of broken objects and grids. I aim to evoke a new sensorium, or a new way of seeing. I’ve left the narratives open, with perhaps subtle hints in both the content and the titles. The degree of abstraction varies among these artworks, creating subcategories that include or exclude obvious figurative, floral, faunal, or architectural elements.
Media: All paintings in this series are layered mixed-media pieces, incorporating watercolor, spray paint, acrylic, ink, pastel, or pigment print on canvas or art paper, mounted on wood (water media panel).
