DESCRIPTION:Fleeing Flares from my Figurative series was selected by Nicole Maloof\, the independent juror of The Art League’s July 2025 Open Exhibit. \nThe exhibit will be on display till August 3\, open daily throughout the week. I will be happy to welcome you to my own studio {#5) steps away from The Art League Gallery at the same time. \n  \nAbout this painting: \nFleeing Flares depicts the uncertainty and war in the current global affairs\, and yet builds upon the hope in the void ahead. I’ve combined my analog sketches digitally for this piece and had it professionally printed with archival pigments on cotton canvas\, then selectively painted over.

SUMMARY:The Art League August 2025 Open Exhibit—Awarded
DESCRIPTION:Stretch from my Figurative series was selected and awarded an Honorable Mention by Jessica Randolph\, the independent juror of The Art League’s August 2025 Open Exhibit. This painting is also featured by East City Art\, a leading voice in documenting and promoting the city’s thriving visual art culture. \nThe exhibit will be on display from August 7 to September 7\, open daily throughout the week. I will be happy to welcome you to my own studio (#5)\, steps away from The Art League Gallery\, if you visit Thursday through Sunday in the afternoon. \nAbout the selected piece: \nStretch is mixed media: pastel\, acrylic\, ink\, collage and pigment print on a 36×36″ wood panel. Here\, I present a male figure in a state of physical extension\, adorned with patterns inspired by African body art and batik fabrics. The figure’s skin displays a mosaic of colors and designs\, reminiscent of various African tribal adornments. This detailed application on the figure contrasts with the background elements\, which feature bold colors such as lime green and fuchsia alongside architectural or abstract lines. The title ‘Stretch’ refers to the figure’s pose\, and also acknowledges the ongoing resilience and endurance required amidst current hardships and conflicts present in parts of Africa. The painting combines traditional artistic influences with contemporary elements.
