SUMMARY:Chronicles: Storytelling Through Imagery\, Annmarie Arts Center\, The Smithsonian
DESCRIPTION:Craning the Net from my Figurative series has been selected for the Chronicles: Storytelling Through Imagery exhibit at Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center by the juror Elizabeth Dale-Deines\, Public Programs Manager at the National Air and Space Museum. This marks my third consecutive acceptance at this prestigious venue affiliated with The Smithsonian. \nThe exhibition will run from October 10 through January 18\, 2026\, offering you ample time to experience the art and the beautiful gardens.  \nAbout Craning the Net: \nA mixed media—spray paint\, watercolor\, acrylic\, charcoal and collage on a 20×60” canvas in which I combined an abstract female form and the net (left and below)\, resulting from spray-painting over a fishing net and a more representational male figure and construction tools on the right (charcoal and collage). It depicts the constant human struggle to make ends meet. Meanwhile\, a grander landscape appears with an optimistic energy on the horizon\, symbolizing hope.

SUMMARY:Honorable Mention—The Art League December 2025 Open Exhibit
DESCRIPTION:Canyon Bride from my recent series\, Spirits\, was selected and won an Honorable Mention by the independent juror\, Amy Waldrop\, for the Art League’s December 2025 Open Exhibit. I was very excited about this selection\, as this was the debut of the Spirits series outside my studio. \nConsequently\, the first edition of Canyon Bride was sold at The Art League Gallery even before the opening reception. Since the buyer was traveling\, the gallery had to remove it\, but they kindly allowed me to replace it with another painting from the same series. Visit The Art League Gallery to see Crimson Pass and walk to my studio (No. 5) for several other paintings from my Spirits series. \nCrimson Pass 24×24\n  \nAbout the selected pieces: \nThe veiled figure rises from the landscape\, symbolizing the ethereal emergence of nature’s guardians and underscoring humanity’s inherent connection to and responsibility for the Earth. The “Spirits” series fuses figurative and landscape painting through a unique technique employing dense\, filament-like lines and parallel striations\, reminiscent of intaglio or etching. I hope to emphasize environmental awareness with this approach. \nThe Art League December Open Exhibit will be on display from December 11 to January 4. \n  \n  \n
