SUMMARY:Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art\, Made in VA Biennial 2026
DESCRIPTION:Prey from my Baroque series has been selected for the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art’s Made in VA Biennial 2026 exhibit and is currently featured on the museum’s website. This is a true honor for me\, especially since I received the following remarks from the museum’s senior curator\, Heather Hakimzade\, in her announcement email: \n“This year\, Made in VA received an unprecedented number of applications and reached our submission capacity for the first time in the exhibition’s history. The jury process was incredibly competitive\, and your work stood out among an exceptionally strong group of submissions from artists across the Commonwealth. \nOpening reception: September 10\, 6:00–9:00 pm \nExhibit duration: September 11\, 2026–March 21\, 2027 \n\nAbout the selected piece:\nPrey (mixed media on 30×24-inch wood panel) reflects on victims of immigration and individuals confined to predefined gender identities\, trapped in the web of established institutions. The overly decorated trap is guarded by a green\, half-spider\, half-insect creature that both depicts the intricate\, often deceptive allure of oppressive systems and symbolizes the pervasive nature of societal judgment.

SUMMARY:The Art League Open Exhibit October 2026
DESCRIPTION:Where: The Art League Gallery\, Alexandria\, VA \nExhibition Duration: October 7 – November 8\, 2026 \nFeatured Work: Moonrack (mixed media—watercolor\, ink\, acrylic\, pastel\, and pigment print on 24×24″ water media wood panel) from the Architectural series \nI am excited to announce that Moonrack from my Architectural series has been selected for The Art League’s October 2026 Open Exhibit by the independent juror\, Paul Sattler. \n\nAbout the Artwork\nOne of the Blue collection within my Architectural series\, Moonrack is an imaginary scenery combining a structurally impossible construction over water\, a full moon\, thunderbolts\, and pristine versus corroded surfaces—serving as color fields and ultimately achieving a chromatic experience. I have taken numerous photographic studies of surfaces near water at different times of day\, digitally altered and combined them with my analog sketches\, and then pigment-printed them on watercolor-type archival paper. I then worked on the print with watercolor\, ink\, and pastel\, making it unique and not part of an edition. This painting comes with a slim silver metal floater frame. \n\nVisit the gallery and my studio\nPlanning to visit Thursday through Sunday afternoon? Drop by my workspace—Studio #5—located just a few steps away inside the Torpedo Factory Art Center. You can view additional original paintings\, explore behind-the-scenes techniques from my Architectural and Perspective series\, or chat about custom artwork commissions. \nLocation & Parking \n\nAddress: The Art League Gallery (Torpedo Factory Art Center)\, Alexandria\, VA (see directions and map below)\nParking: Ample street parking is available nearby\, plus two convenient parking garages directly across the street.

SUMMARY:Best in Show Award—The Art League Open Exhibit November 2026
DESCRIPTION:Where: The Art League Gallery\, Alexandria\, VA \nOpening Reception: November 13\, 6–8 p.m \nExhibition Duration: November 5 – December 7\, 2026 \nFeatured Work: Cathedral Tree (acrylic and spray paint over a digital sketch printed on canvas\, 30×40″) \nI am thrilled to announce that Cathedral Tree has been selected as Best in Show in The Art League’s November 2026 Open Exhibit by independent juror Heather McMordie. This is my sixth Best in Show award from The Art League—and my second this year. \nCome support me at the award reception on Friday\, November 13\, and enjoy several exhibits by local DMV artists—including The Social Vibe\, Steve Mabley’s solo exhibition\, Little Winter\, and the adjacent Gallery 75. I have several pieces in the last two that make great holiday gift options. \n\n🎉 Visitor Bonus:\nTorpedo Factory Art Center is celebrating Customer Appreciation Month! Stop by to enjoy complimentary drinks\, snacks\, and live music while you browse the exhibits. \n\nAbout the Artwork:\nCathedral Tree is from my Architectural series inspired by nature’s invasion of abandoned buildings. After humans have occupied the entire planet\, it’s nice to find places where plants defy human habitats. I also love the organic forms creeping into geometrical industrial objects through corrosion or growth. They also provide new ground for playing with colors. I digitally sketched this architectural composition\, printed it on canvas\, and painted over it with acrylic and spray paint. \nVisit the gallery and my studio\nPlanning to visit Thursday through Sunday afternoon? Drop by my workspace — Studio #5 — located just a few steps away inside the Torpedo Factory Art Center. View additional original paintings\, explore behind-the-scenes techniques from my Architectural and Perspective series\, or chat about custom artwork commissions. \nLocation & Parking\nAddress: The Art League Gallery (Torpedo Factory Art Center)\, Alexandria\, VA \nParking: Ample street parking is available nearby\, plus two convenient parking garages directly across the street.

SUMMARY:The Art League November 2026 Little Winter Exhibit
DESCRIPTION:Where: The Art League Gallery\, Alexandria\, VA \nOpening Reception: November 13\, 6–8 pm \nExhibition Duration: November 5 – December 7\, 2026 \nFeatured Works: Arcadia and Eclipsed Temple (watercolor\, pastel\, and acrylic layered over pigment print on cotton rag\, mounted on wood) from the Coastal Skyline collection \nLittle Winter is one of The Art League’s most fun annual exhibits. It offers visitors affordable small art that makes wonderful gifts\, and I am thrilled that independent juror Tiara Safic-Martin selected two of my small mixed-media paintings—Eclipsed Temple and Arcadia—for this show. \nJoin us for the opening and my Best in Show Award reception for the Open Exhibit on Friday\, November 13\, 6–8 pm\, to enjoy several exhibits by local DMV artists—including The Social Vibe\, Steve Mabley’s solo exhibition\, the Open Exhibit\, and the adjacent Gallery 75. I have several pieces in Little Winter and Gallery 75 that make great holiday gifts—and Gallery 75 also has other gift options. \n\n🎉 Visitor Bonus:\nTorpedo Factory Art Center is celebrating Customer Appreciation Month! Stop by to enjoy complimentary drinks\, snacks\, and live music while you browse the exhibits. \n\nAbout the Artworks\nBoth pieces are from the Coastal Skyline collection\, a sub-category of my Colorfield series. I wish the manmade and the natural would meet on equal terms\, and this collection gives that wish form—town geometry\, sun\, and sea sharing one horizon. In Eclipsed Temple\, an eclipsed sun hangs over a lone tree and the bright geometry of a coastal town\, with the sea beyond. In Arcadia\, a rainbow arcs over a pale sun above the shoreline. Each piece is built the Coastal Skyline way: watercolor\, pastel\, and acrylic layered by hand over my pigment print on cotton rag\, mounted on wood—so every one is an original\, not a reproduction. \nVisit the gallery and my studio\nPlanning to visit Thursday through Sunday afternoon? Drop by my workspace—Studio #5—located just a few steps away inside the Torpedo Factory Art Center.
