SUMMARY:Green: AACC Annual National Juried Exhibit
DESCRIPTION:Blue Frog from my Indoor Pond collection\, Architectural series\, is selected for the AACC Annual National Juried Exhibit\, Green at the Cade Center for Fine Arts Gallery\, Arnold\, Maryland. Juried by Roberto Ferrari\, renowned curator of Columbia University\, it was selected from 400 submissions\, with only 43 artists chosen. \nDuration: April 28–July 14 \nOpening Reception/Meet the Artist: April 29 \nAbout the selected piece: \nMy Indoor Pond collection\, consisting of small layered watercolor on pigment print pieces (16-18″ wide)\, is a study of boundaries: where solid structures meet liquid depths and airy light. I use these states of matter to bridge the gap between abstract shapes and familiar forms\, letting the concept dictate the movement of color across the canvas. While the series is grounded in a deep\, atmospheric palette of greens\, it is defined by its “interruptions”—shocks of warm light and cool blues. Here\, the solitary blue frog acts as a vibrant anchor\, emerging from the dominant greens to breathe life into the composition. \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n

SUMMARY:The Art League May 2026 Open Exhibit
DESCRIPTION:Dawn from my Spirits series is selected by Jowita Wyszomiska\, the independent juror of the month\, for the May 2026 Open Exhibit at The Art League Gallery\, Alexandria\, VA. \nExhibit Duration: May 6–June 7\, 2026 \nAbout the selected piece:\nDawn\, a layered watercolor and pigment print on a 24×24-inch wood watermedia panel\, is the fifth painting from my Spirits series selected for a monthly exhibit at The Art League. Two previous pieces from this series received Best in Show and Honorable Mention awards and were sold by The Art League. \nThe “Spirits” series fuses figurative and landscape painting through a musical approach—a unique technique employing dense\, filament-like lines (melody) and parallel striations (harmony)\, reminiscent of intaglio or etching. I hope to emphasize environmental awareness with this approach. The veiled figures\, rendered in neutral tones\, contrast with the warm landscape\, symbolizing the ethereal emergence of nature’s guardians and underscoring humanity’s inherent connection to and responsibility for the Earth. \nAs a colorist artist trained by the founders and followers of the Washington Color School\, my practice has evolved from abstract color field painting. I now employ a surreal approach\, introducing elements of reality to explore the gap between the known (recognizable forms) and the unknown (abstract expression). This investigation centers on my “Spirits” series\, in which innovative digital and mixed-media techniques fuse the human figure and landscape\, emphasizing environmental connection. \n  \n
