SUMMARY:Hill Center Galleries 2026 Regional Juried Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Delphic\, from my Figurative series\, is selected by the independent juror\, Claude L. Elliot\, for the 2026 Regional Juried Show at Hill Center Galleries\, Capitol Hill\, Washington\, DC.\nThis marks my third consecutive year in this prestigious exhibition\, following my Best in Show award in 2024. \nThe exhibition runs from January 21 to May 2\, 2026 \nAbout the selected piece: \nLayered water media on a 24×24″ water media wood board\, Delphic is a tribute to Eva Palmer-Sikelianos\, merging ancient and modern themes. The central figure exudes 1920s sophistication and classical poise\, set against a vibrant backdrop of abstract botanical forms. The composition is intersected by red grids\, reimagining the traditional loom as a construct that blends history\, nature\, and the future into a single enigmatic moment.

SUMMARY:Rhythm: Movement in Art\, Annmarie Arts Center\, The Smithsonian
DESCRIPTION:Fallings and Bliss from my Figurative series have been selected for the Rhythm: Movement in Art exhibit at Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center. This marks my fourth consecutive acceptance at this prestigious venue affiliated with The Smithsonian. \nDuration: \nThe exhibition runs from February 13 through April 19\, 2026\, offering you ample time to experience the art and the beautiful gardens. \nAbout the selected pieces: \nFallings\, 48×36″ mixed media—In this piece\, I put floating male figures with vivid orange and teal up against a misty background of pastel colors. The perspective grid is balancing the organic forms. Inspired by the discovery of perspective in Renaissance paintings\, I applied the same tools to contemporary abstract and surreal motifs. There is a mood of freedom and an adrenaline rush at the same time. \nBliss\, 24×24″ mixed media—about the joy of putting behind a shattered past—preservation or deliverance from harm\, ruin\, or loss. I’ve used a solid wooden artboard and various media and tools\, including initial digital studies\, stained tissue paper (collaged)\, acrylic paint (brush and spray)\, pastel\, stencils\, and sanding\, to achieve the unique look and feel of this painting. I allow the viewer’s imagination to tell the narrative.
